If you are behind in your mortgage payments for your primary residence, time is NOT on your side. Being proactive in contacting our agency for assistance can make the difference between keeping your home and losing it to foreclosure.

The Homeownership Resource Center (HRC), a division of Family Services, Inc. is certified by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development as a full service housing counseling agency. The Mortgage Default and Foreclosure Counseling program is designed specifically for homeowners who are behind, or anticipate becoming behind, in their mortgage payments on their primary residence. Professional HRC counselors can help you establish a budget, and determine what strategies are best to prevent foreclosure in your situation. Our licensed and certified housing/financial counselors will discuss these strategies and develop a plan to get you back on track with your mortgage payments. Through this process our counselors can also offer advice and methods to address other financial issues that may be causing your mortgage payment delinquency such as credit card debt, defaulted student loans, medical bills, collection accounts, etc.

Mortgage Default and Foreclosure Counseling is available to all South Carolina and North Carolina residents for their primary residence regardless of income or value of home.
